Life is all about choices. What choices we make defines who we are.
On February 6th, 2025, our brother Matt Kerhin chose to end his life.
We all know that Matt could be difficult. Sometimes his choices left us wondering why. This is one we will never truly understand.
However, no matter what his approach, every choice he made was to hold a higher standard. A higher standard for himself, for his children, for his family, and for everyone else around him. Much of who I am today and the interests I have, I’ve obtained from my oldest brother. Whether it’s bicycles, motorcycles, boating and waterskiing, woodworking, cars, and music, I watched and tried to emulate who he was.
As difficult as he could sometimes be, he touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of people in our community. He had this passion for pretty much anything with an engine. He turned that passion into teaching. Every single student he taught couldn’t say nicer things about him. Every choice he made was to either better the program or a child’s experience. Though his methods were sometimes unorthodox, every choice he made was for making the program better.
The stories I have about my brother are endless. Always the life of the party, always had something to say. His choices were bigger than life. And he will remain bigger than life in our memories and to us all.
If you or anyone you know is struggling with your emotions, please seek help. Don’t give up on anyone!
To everyone who has reached out to our family, thank you! It truly means the world to us. Rest in peace my brother. I love you.
